Ijaw Women of America (IWA) 6th clean water project in the Oloibiri area of Ogbia Clan, Bayelsa State, Nigeria:

In 2021, a heartfelt effort to bring clean water to Ijaw communities, the Ijaw Women of America (IWA) successfully delivered their 6th solar-powered clean water project to Oloibiri in Ogbia Clan, Bayelsa State — the historic birthplace of Nigeria’s first oil discovery.

This initiative’s purpose was clear: to provide safe, reliable drinking water to a community long challenged by polluted and unsafe sources, helping to improve health and daily life for families and children. 

​

Local residents and leaders expressed deep gratitude, highlighting how the project has reduced the burden of fetching water and strengthened community wellbeing. Key stakeholders included IWA members from the diaspora and local partners helped coordinate and celebrate the borehole’s commissioning.

This milestone exemplifies IWA’s ongoing commitment to “Clean Water for All Ijaw Land” and the power of unity, compassion, and collective action.
